Summary Activity :
This course began with opening by master ceremony at 9.00 p.m, and continued with the speech by the chairman of committee, Mr. Hakam and Faculty Advisor, Mr. Sukir Maryanto. The speaker of this short course is Mr. Yustin Kamah with topic is "Interpretation of Conceptual Model and Drilling Target for Geothermal". He is Advisor Senior, New Energy and Green Tech. Pertamina.

Initially, he explained some facts about geothermal. In 1913, for the first time the electricity from geothermal energy began to be known in the world. Nowadays, about 24 countries explore Geothermal indirectly and 72 countries explore directly. As we know, some benefits of Geothermal energy are : can reduce consumption the fossil fuels until 465
million barrel oil, non-pollution, environmental friendly, and able to be human energy for future. Indonesia is in the third position as a country that used geothermal electricity 1337 MW after USA 2544 MW and Philippines 1931 MW, where Indonesia has about 28.000 MW or 40% from geothermal potential totally in the world.

In Geothermal explorations, Geophysical survey was conducted to determine the physical properties of rocks from the surface until several kilometers in subsurface. By knowing the physical properties of rocks, it can be seen the anomaly in the region caused by geothermal system. Furthermore, it can be used to estimate the prospects, geothermal resource, and determine the well point.

Selection of the type of survey depends on the geological conditions and structures in the area to be investigated

If geological, geochemical and geophysical data shown that in the investigated area has are economical geothermal resources to be developed, then the next stage is exploration wells drilling, with the purpose is to prove the existence of geothermal resources in the investigated area and tested model of the geothermal system is made based on the detailed survey data.

The number of exploration wells depending on the size of the area suspected to contain geothermal energy. Usually within one prospect was drilled 3-5 exploration wells. The exploration wells are generally drilled to a depth of 1000 - 3000 meters. But, actually, the depth of the well depends on the depth of the reservoir are estimated from a detailed survey data, budget constraints, and existing technology.

Natural gamma ray: Rock type ( basaltversus acidic rock )

Gamma-gamma: Bulk density of rock

Neutron-neutron: porosity of rock (proton density)

Resistivity log: Porosity of rock and salinity of pore fluid and temperature

Caliper log: Diameter of well, cavities, scaling

Sonic log: Formation density, porosity, and fracture distribution. Cement bonding ofcasing

Televiewer: Fracture orientations (slip and strike)

Drilling Program contains estimation of litology will be found, casing design, estimation deep of structure geology will be pierce (Geology-Geophysics), estimation mineral alteration will be found particularly heat mineral like epidot, estimation of temperature, estimation deep of reservoir, estimation the obstacle of drilling will be face like stuck, kick, etc, next deep of total drilling and the direction. Exploration well drilling contains Lithology (caprock, host rock, alteration), temperature gradients, formation temperature and pressure, upflow/outflow or linement of resource.

Finally, this course ended at 3.00 p.m, and is running well.
